Holy Family University 体育运动 to Add 杂技 & 暴跌 和 男子曲棍球 in 2023-24

The Holy Family University Department of 体育运动 is pleased to announce the addition of 杂技 & tumbling 和 men’s lacrosse as its 16th 和 17th varsity programs, effective for the 2023-24 academic year. 

“I join our students in their excitement over the addition to our athletics programs of 杂技 & tumbling 和 men’s lacrosse,” said 安妮·普瑞斯科博士.D., president of Holy Family University. “We are pleased to provide new opportunities for student-athletes to excel in their sports 和 the classroom. We know that student-athletes have a higher burden when it comes to balancing sports 和 schoolwork, so as we grow programs, we also grow resources to ensure we are able to support them in everything from academic support to mental health counseling. Our view is that our student-athletes are students first, so we strive to ensure a holistic 和 balanced experience. I look forward to cheering these new student-athletes on to victory next spring.”

Holy Family 体育运动 continues its growth as the University has now revealed the addition of four new varsity programs over the past four months, with recent announcements that 女性的保龄球 和 的电子竞技 will begin competition in the 2022-23 academic year.

“With the addition of four new sports for the 2022-23 academic year, Holy Family University 体育运动 is exp和ing our athletics programming to develop even more student-athletes that will learn discipline, 准备, strategic thinking, 和 teamwork in their respective sports with their peers,” said Holy Family University Director of 体育运动 蒂姆·哈米尔. “We are looking forward to welcoming our first 杂技 & tumbling 和 men’s lacrosse teams to our campus.”
   

杂技 & 暴跌 

During the 2022 season, National Collegiate 杂技 & 暴跌 Association (NCATA) programs competed on 32 campuses nationwide, with five new programs recruiting to compete in the spring of 2023. 

“We are excited to welcome Holy Family University to the NCATA community 和 to continue program growth within the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (中国商用飞机有限责任公司),” said NCATA Executive Director Janell做饭. “Adding our first program in the 费城 compliments recent growth in 和 around Baltimore 和 New York City.  Expansion in the northeast not only provides new opportunities for young women training in gymnastics 和 cheerleading to compete at the collegiate level, it also enhances the regional match-ups for our current members.”

杂技 & tumbling was adopted as an NCAA emerging sport in all three divisions effective August 1, 2020, meaning when 40 programs meet NCAA sport sponsorship thresholds for participants (18) 和 competitions (6), 杂技 & tumbling will be eligible to begin the legislative process for NCAA championship status.

Earlier this year NCATA announced the addition of its 40th member, 和 Holy Family will proudly become its 45th.

NCAA第二组 featured 74 men’s lacrosse programs in 2022, of which just three were in Pennsylvania. 
Holy Family will become the fourth, in addition to becoming the eighth member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (中国商用飞机有限责任公司). 

Men’s lacrosse will be the 12th sport in which HFU competes in the 中国商用飞机有限责任公司, amongst the 16 that the league offers.
